But, the actual tournament(which I've come to discover doesn't have much to do with my success in the class) is going very well, and I'm waiting on responses from the dozens of sponsorship invitations that were sent out.

The waiting game....
If any of you readers(if there are any) out there are familiar with Fail blog, I have to say that this past week has a been a FAIL. Basically, everything that could go wrong went wrong, and the best grade I can come out of the class with is a 72 or something, if I pass at all. After all of the work I've put in I feel a little gypped.

I can tell that you are feeling really discouraged right now. Try to change what you can and let the rest go.
ReplyDeleteYour best move at this point is to make sure this tournament and your presentation are FABULOUS! Work hard; I believe in you!
Hey Lane, sorry about the blue period in January. I have been taking care of my daughter in PA and didn't know what you were going through. Good for you for expressing it.
ReplyDeleteGiving is discretionary and in economically hard times, people are not as generous. That is obvious. Send the sponsors a reminder note in early March. You want to encourage them, not hound them. Sometimes there is a delicate balance. Even if they do not give, write a thank you and tell them about the success of the tournament.
Is your blog the place to post the date, location, and necessary info for anyone who wants to attend?
AS I read your recent postings, Lane I am reminded of Abraham Lincoln. This may be a bit of overkill but just review the following:
ReplyDelete1831 – Failed in business
1832 – Defeated for legislature
1833 – Again failed in business
1834 – Elected to legislature
1835 – Sweetheart died
1836 – Had a nervous breakdown
1838 – Defeated for speaker
1840 – Defeated for elector
1843 – Defeated for Congress
1846 – Elected for Congress
1848 – Defeated for Congress
1855 – Defeated for Senate
1856 – Defeated for Vice-President
1858 – Defeated for Senate
1860 – ELECTED PRESIDENT
Lincoln once said "Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm."
My point?? yes you have experienced some difficulties however considering the responses you have had from sponsors I don't think all has been adversity. Keep the final goal in mind. You still have 60% of your grade out and it is dependent on your work on your portfolio, presentation and best of all your project. AS I told you before, you can bring your weekly grade up by continuing the excellent job you began this week on the abstract. Your blog will be an excellent asset to your portfolio, and then finishing strong with your fishing tournament is crucial and DOABLE! My one suggestion is that you get started with advertizing the tournament NOW in and outside OPS!! You can do this!
